The NoVa Women’s Health and Laser Clinic was established by three fellowship trained female urogynecologists. Our vision: to empower and educate women on genitourinary conditions and expand the treatment options available.

Dr. Baharak Amir MD, MSc, FRCSC

Raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Dr. Amir is a Dalhousie University Medical School graduate. She finished her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2005 and entered a two year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Floor Surgery. Since 2007, she has enjoyed a busy clinical/surgical practice in Halifax and Dartmouth. As an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine, she is actively engaged in medical education and research.

Dr. Marianne Pierce MD, FRCSC

Dr. Pierce was born and raised here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She attended Dalhousie University for both her undergraduate degree and medical school, graduating with her MD in 2003. She completed a 5-year surgical residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Queen’s University in 2008 and finished her training with an additional 2-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Floor Surgery at Dalhousie.

Dr. Anita Smith MD, FRCSC

Dr. Smith hails from the Atlantic Provinces, having lived in Newfoundland and New Brunswick before settling in Halifax ten years ago. She received her Bachelor of Science degree through Mount Allison University in New Brunswick prior to entering medical school at Dalhousie University, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2010. Dr. Smith then completed a 5- year surgical residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University and further enhanced her surgical education with a final two years of subspecialized training in Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction.
